Smelting steel scrap in electric arc furnace

GATHER DN 125 – 5″

Within an arc furnace used for the continuous smelting of steel scrap material electrical power must be transmitted via a copper contact block. This contact block consists of a bottom contact plate and a put-on contact yaw. The heat generated in the block due to the high electrical current of 130,000 A must be removed by means of cooling water.

The contact block functions like an oversized electrical plug connector capable of being disconnected. In this application the integrated docking couplings must reliably shut off the cooling ducts to prevent the cooling medium from exiting so that there is no need to empty the cooling system.

Docking coupling DN 125 – 5″ for the installation in a copper contact block, of stainless steel grade 1.4305, equipped with SAE flanges
